WISDOM: various authors

The impermanence of life.... so love like a hurricane

The impermanence of life is all too bittersweet. We hoard our sorrows; we stifle our tears of pain; and we are stingy with our unfiltered love. Why? Because love is a powerful liability. It's strong enough to make you feel a bevy of possibilities. It can give you confidence, it can make you feel beautiful. When love's lost it can be debilitating, it can destroy you. So why be stingy with love? Why not open your heart to TRUE love? With true love there are no strings or expectations of reciprocation. True love knows no ulterior motives except to simply be love. Before the seasons change and the leaves of this existence flitter away,

Love BIG,
Love RESPONSIBLY,
Love like a HURRICANE!!!

Expressing gratitude

Practicing gratitude will help us more fully appreciate what has been offered us. Being grateful influences our attitude; it softens our harsh exterior and takes the threat out of most new situations.

Expressing gratitude ignites the light within us and is a sure path to joy.  Gratitude is one of the highest vibrations of energy we can create, it's free, and anyone can give it.  It can be as simple as being thankful for soup, being thankful one can see, walk, wiggle a finger, or tap to a beat.  One can be grateful for happy children, good neighbors, good luck, and simply being alive. . . . Part of the journey toward joy involves not waiting around for trouble, but being continuously aware of our blessings.

Always try to serve others

Always try to serve others.
Don't even call it helping,
call it service
because you are benefited by that.
If someone begs from you
and you give them something,
you shouldn't think you are helping them.
Instead, he or she is helping you.
~Satchidananda

Doing nothing for others is the undoing of oneself .....

Doing nothing for others
is the undoing of one’s self.
We must be purposely kind and generous,
or we miss the best part of existence.
The heart that goes out of itself,
gets large and full of joy.
This is the great secret of the inner life.
We do ourselves the most good
doing something for others.
~Horace Mann

Wisdom about anger and hate - let it flow and not stagnate

“Anger is like flowing water;
there's nothing wrong with it
as long as you let it flow.

Hate is like stagnant water;
anger that you denied yourself the freedom to feel,
the freedom to flow;
water that you gathered in one place
and left to forget.

Stagnant water becomes dirty, stinky,
disease-ridden, poisonous, deadly;
that is your hate.

On flowing water travels little paper boats;
paper boats of forgiveness.
Allow yourself to feel anger,
allow your waters to flow,
along with all the paper boats of forgiveness.
Be human.”

Before you speak to me about your religion, first show it to me how you treat others

Before you speak to me about your religion,
first show it to me in how you treat other people;

before you tell me how much you love your God,
show me in how much you love all His children;

before you preach to me of your passion for your faith,
teach me about it through your compassion for your neighbors.

In the end,
I’m not as interested in what you have to tell or sell
as in how you choose to live and give.
~Cory Booker

Wisdom of being yourself and the beauty of being you

Close your eyes
and imagine
the best version of you possible.
That’s who you really are,
let go of any part of you
that doesn’t believe it

I do not care if you are male or female, old, fat or thin... am only interested in your heart

I do not care at all
if you are male or female,
young or old, fat or thin, tall or short.
I do not care what you call yourself
or how you dress.
I do not care what language you speak
or what you make important in your life.

I am interested only in your heart,
in your love, in your compassion.
It is here, in this place
that we are truly the same
and share the beauty of our awakening.

Time is not measured by the years that you live.....

Time is not measured by the years that you live
But by the deeds you do and the joy that you give--
And each day as it comes brings a chance to each one
To love to the fullest, leaving nothing undone
That would brighten the life or lighten the load
Of some weary traveler lost on Life's Road--
So what does it matter how long we may live
If as long as we live we unselfishly give.
~Helen Steiner Rice

The tree which needs two arms to span its girth sprang from the tiniest shoot....

The tree which needs two arms
to span its girth sprang from the tiniest shoot.
Yon tower, nine stories high, rose from a little mound of earth.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
~Lao-tzu

Your light is always present and willing to guide you if you allow it.....

Your light is always present, and willing to guide you if you allow it. No matter what circumstance you are living, no matter what you have done, or have lacked to do, you are a being of light, you are the essence of love, and within you shines brightly the spark of life, and passion to become.
~The Divinity Within

Give space to life, give time to sprout your potential .....

“Give space to life.
Give time to sprout your potential –
the potential to awaken the beauty in you.
Awaken the beauty of your heart –
the beauty of your spirit.
There are infinite possibilities.”
~Amit Ray

There is no need for us all to be alike, neither do we a need a common enemy to force us .....

“There is no need for us all to be alike and think the same way, neither do we need a common enemy to force us to come together and reach out to each other. If we allow ourselves and everyone else the freedom to fully individuate as spiritual beings in human form, there will be no need for us to be forced by worldly circumstances to take hands and stand together. Our souls will automatically want to flock together, like moths to the flame of our shared Divinity, yet each with wings covered in the glimmering colors and unique patterns of our individual human expression.”

The path of the spiritual warrior is not soft and sweet...

"The path of the spiritual warrior is not soft and sweet. It is not artificially blissful and pretend forgiving. It is not fearful of divisiveness. It is not afraid of its own shadow. It is not afraid of losing popularity when it speaks its truth. It will not beat around the bush where directness is essential. It has no regard for vested interests that cause suffering.
It is benevolent and it is fiery and it is cuttingly honest in its efforts to liberate itself and humanity from the egoic ties that bind. Shunning strong opinions in the name of spirituality is anti-spiritual. Spirituality that is only floaty soft is a recipe for disaster, allowing all manner of manipulation to run amok. Real spirituality is a quest for truth, in all its forms.
Sometimes we find the truth on the meditation cushion, and sometimes we find it in the heart of conflict. May all spiritual warriors rise into fullness. This planet is lost without them."

Castiglione - that which we call art

Castiglione  had in mind when he wrote: "Therefore we may call that art true at which does not seem to be art."

That which we consider to be art is that which appears not to be art at all
