POETRY: Rumi - on finding God

I tried to find God on the Christian Cross,  
but He was not there; 
I went to the Muslims' Kabba in Mecca, 
but God was not there either. 
I went to to the old Jewish Synagogue 
and the Temple of Hindus, 
but I couldn't find a trace of God anywhere. 
I questioned the scholars and philosophers, 
but He was way beyond their understanding! 
I then looked deep into my heart 
and it was there where He dwelled that I saw Him; 
God was nowhere else to be found.
